Who is Sunita Poudel?
Sunita Poudel is a Kathmandu-based sound healer who began her path playing singing bowls for visitors at handicraft fairs across Europe. Her husband, Deepak Sunar, has worked in the wholesale trade of Tibetan crafts and Himalayan instruments since 2008. At those fairs, Sunita often placed the bowl in a visitor’s hands as she played.
She noticed how differently each person responded to the sound. That led her to train formally as a sound healer in Patan in 2017. The same year, she and Deepak co-founded Dharma Tool.
Since then, Sunita has led more than 1,500 sessions in Nepali and English. She works with individuals, yoga studios, wellness centres and corporate groups.

From her training notebook to a free course
Sunita recorded everything she learned in Patan in a handwritten training notebook. That notebook became Dharma Tool’s free Singing Bowl Healing Course. It covers:
- the seven chakras, each with its note, mantra and mudra
- Vedic and Tibetan note sets
- the two playing directions
- sound massage, and warm water therapy for elderly clients
- five-element (Panchatatva) therapy
- an 18-day, three-cycle session schedule
- brainwave entrainment, the 12 chakra system, and Reiki
How does Sunita work with sound?
Sunita builds every session around Tibetan singing bowls played live by hand, choosing bowls and notes through the seven and 12 chakra frameworks. She plays by striking and by rimming, and never uses recordings as a substitute.
She plays the chakra sequence in two directions: root to crown for therapy, and crown to root for healing. Long, steady tones support brainwave entrainment, giving a busy mind a slower rhythm to settle into. Mantra, mudra and yantra add voice, gesture and visual focus. Reiki adds a layer of energy awareness.
Every person responds to sound differently. In her sessions, some people cry, some laugh, and others simply go quiet and rest.

How does Sunita choose a singing bowl?

Sunita chooses a bowl by both listening and feeling, and she has played and checked more than 10,000 bowls by hand. She first checks the bowl’s frequency and which chakra it maps to. Then she goes by what she feels in its sound and vibration.
Her aim is not simply to approve or reject bowls. It is to match the right bowl to each person, because the best bowl depends on its purpose and on the person’s own preference. Every bowl sold by Dharma Tool goes through this hands-on selection.
